Kidd Gloves Off As Nets Show Their Magic Tricks

EAST RUTHERFORD: Despite sitting out the fourth quarter, Jason Kidd had 15 points, 13 assists and eight rebounds to inspire the New Jersey Nets to a crushing 121-88 NBA win over the Orlando Magic here yesterday.

Richard Jefferson added 19 points for the Nets (13-7), who have won two games in a row, while Rodney Rogers had 17 points, Lucious Harris 15 and rookie Tamar Slay a career-best 14 in New Jersey's highest-scoring game of the season.

Kidd rested in the fourth quarter as the Nets pulled away even though the Magic had both Tracy McGrady and Grant Hill in their line-up for one of the few times this season.

Hill scored 20 points for the Magic, while McGrady managed just 16 points on 4-for-20 shooting. Nine of those points came in the final session.

Dirk Nowitzki had 35 points to spark a furious fourth-quarter rally as the Dallas Mavericks beat the Golden State Warriors 121-116 in Oakland.

Nick Van Exel added 19 points while Steve Nash had 14 for the Mavericks (18-2).

Antawn Jamieson had 26 points and 14 rebounds for the Warriors, while Earl Boykins had 23.

Glenn Robinson and Shareef Abdur-Rahim both scored 23 points as the Hawks edged the Detroit Pistons 94-92 in Atlanta.

Richard Hamilton had 25 points for Detroit (12-7).

In Los Angeles, Elton Brand had 26 points and 17 rebounds as the Clippers downed the Minnesota Timberwolves 104-88.

Eric Piatkowski had 19 points for the Clippers, who won their second successive game. Andre Miller collected 10 points and nine assists for Los Angeles.

Kevin Garnett had 19 points and 14 rebounds for the Timberwolves.

Washington's Larry Hughes scored 22 points and had 10 rebounds to give the Wizards a 100-97 home win over the New York Knicks.

Michael Jordan chipped in with 20 points and matched a season-high with nine rebounds.

Jalen Rose scored 27 points and Donyell Marshall 22 as the Bulls won the battle of the two worst teams in the Eastern Conference with a 112-104 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Steve Francis had 20 points as the Houston Rockets downed the Philadelphia 76ers 97-72.

Yao Ming added 18 points and 12 rebounds as the Rockets won for the sixth successive home game.

Jamal Mashburn had 23 points as the New Orleans Hornets beat the Bucks 94-88 while in Denver, while Chris Whitney collected 23 points as the Nuggets upset the Indiana Pacers 92-81.

Vladimir Radmanovic scored 19 points off the bench and Gary Payton added 18 to give the SuperSonics a 100-71 win over the Miami Heat.
